David Philip Hefti’s “Con fuoco” livestreamed (May 2021)

David Philip Hefti’s 4th string quartet “Con fuoco” will be performed by the Amaryllis Quartet on Sunday, 16 May at 5 p.m. via livestream as part of the PUTBUS Festival 2021. This year’s festival theme Fire, originating in the general leitmotif which follows the four-year cycle of the four elements, plays an important role in this concert. The evening is called, after all, “con fuoco” – “with fire” in Italian. two milestones of the chamber music join the string quartet “con fuoco” by the Swiss composer David Philip Hefti, that makes the audience hear the fire-place crackle and shooting stars sparkle.

World Premiere of David Philip Hefti’s work in a livestream (April 2021)

In a livestream concert on 13 April at 7:30 p.m., David Philip Hefti’s Mormorando for flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon will be premiered by Swiss Chamber Soloists Felix Renggli, Emanuel Abbühl, Stojan Krkuleski and Sergio Azzolini. The concert will also feature Bach’s Ricercare a 6 in Hefti’s arrangement for winds as well as Mozart’s Gan Partita in B flat major by the members of the Swiss Chamber Academy.

David Philip Hefti as Composer in Residence (April 2021)

As Composer in Residence David Philip Hefti developed the concept of the next concert of the Camerata Bern. David Philip Hefti’s “Snow Queen” now also digitally (February 2021)

The CD with David Philip Hefti’s music theater “The Snow Queen” released in November 2020 is now also available digitally on all channels. At the world premiere of the work in November 2018, during which this recording was made, the composer himself conducted the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich as well as soprano Mojca Erdmann, speaker Delia Mayer and speaker Max Simonischek.

David Philip Hefti conducts the Musikkollegium Winterthur in a “Hauskonzert” (January 2021)

Composer and conductor David Philip Hefti will conduct the Musikkollegium Winterthur in a house concert on Friday, 29 January. In addition to Mozart, Hefti’s own compositions will be on the program, for example the world premiere of his concerto “Cantabile” Concerto for Viola and Orchestra, a commissioned work by the Musikkollegium Winterthur from 2019. Hefti already has a long friendship with the orchestra and also with the evening’s soloist Jürg Dähler.

David Philip Hefti

Several works by Swiss conductor and composer David Philip Hefti have been and will be released on CD and digitally. In November 2020, NEOS released Die Schneekönigin on CD with soprano Mojca Erdmann, actress Delia Mayer and actor Max Simonischek as well as the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich as a live recording of the world premiere in November 2018. On Musiques Suisses / NAXOS , the CD swiss clarinett music followed at the end of 2020 with three works by Hefti, recorded by Benjamin Engeli, Nils Kohler, Ernesto Molinari and Bernhard Röthlisberger. Also on NEOS, a new chamber music CD Light and Shade with the Amaryllis Quartet together with Maria Riccarda Wesseling and Bernhard Röthlisberger will be released in spring 2021.

David Philip Hefti in Conversation at SRF 2 Kultur (January 2021)

On January 20, 2021, David Philip Hefti will be heard on SRF 2 Kultur in conversation with Florian Hauser. At 20:00, the composer will talk about his life’s work of composing and other states of creativity. You can find more information here.
