On 8, 9 and 10 December, Herbert Blomstedt will be a guest at the Berliner Philharmoniker. He will conduct Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 KV 488 and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 3.

Cellist Jan Vogler is touring again through the USA, together with Hollywood actor Bill Murray: As „Bill Murray, Jan Vogler & Friends“ they are presenting the program of their new CD “New worlds“ (Decca, September 2017), among others in Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

On 29 November and 1 December conductor Omer Meir Wellber will give his debut at SWR Symphony Orchestra in Stuttgart. Together they will present works by Debussy, Zimmermann and Schubert.
Omer Meir Wellber will also be present during the introduction talks on both concert nights at 19:00.

On Sunday, 26 November, Deutsche Oper Berlin will present the premiere performance of their new production of Giacomo Meyerbeer’s opera “Le prophète”. American Tenor Gregory Kunde will sing the main character Jean van Leyden.

The International Classical Music Award (ICMA) has nominated the most current CD by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Manfred Honeck with Shostakovich’s 5. Symphony and Barber’s Adagio for the award ceremony in 2018.

A couple of days ago, the Gewandhausorchestra Leipzig conducted by Herbert Blomstedt finished their big anniversary tour in Europe and Asia, among others with Leonidas Kavakos. During the tour the artists and audiences celebrated the 275. anniversary of the Gewandhaus orchestra, Herbert Blomstedt’s 90. birthday as well as Leonidas Kavakos’ 50. birthday, who was tour guest.

On Sunday, 19 November General Music Director of the State Oper Hamburg Kent Nagano will conduct the revival of Alban Berg’s opera Wozzeck, staged by Peter Konwitschny in 1998.
The performance dates will be on 19, 22 and 25 November as well as on 1 December.

As every year in December, violinist and UN messanger of Peace Midori will be travelling with Music Sharing’s International Coummunity Engagement Program (ICEP). This year she and the quartet consisting of herself and young musicians will visit rural and otherwise underserved areas in India, followed by presentations in Japan in June 2018.

Conductor Omer Meir Wellber will give three concerts in Cologne, Dortmund and Essen from 16 – 18 November with the Academy of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Violinist Isabelle Faust will play Berg’s concerto for violin. Further, Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 will be on the program.
