Omer Meir Wellber launches Sarab – Strings of Change (September 2015)
Together with the charity organization A new Dawn in the Negev and the Music Conservatory Be’er Sheva, Omer Meir Wellber will launch the education program Sarab – Strings of Change as initiator and founding member.
On 9 September 2015 at 4 pm at Al Salem Primary School in Rahat, the doors will be open for the public. The mayor of Rahat Talal Alkirnawi, the organizers, the education officers as well as the students will welcome the guests and the municipality and will celebrate with music and speeches.
Sarab – Strings of Change strives to introduce a life transforming music program where it is needed most: among the Bedouins of the Negev, one of the poorest and most discriminated groups within Israeli society.
Already in the beginning of 2015 a very modern music lab with two soundproof practice rooms was created at Al Salem Primary School. In April 2015 two professional part time teachers began with the first violin lessons. The teachers are present in the school 4 days a week and reach over a 100 students. The instruments are provided by the school.
Next school year a first student concert is planned.
