Midori presents special program with the Beethoven Orchester Bonn (November 2017)

On 10 and 12 November, Midori will present Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in the U.N. city Bonn together with the Beethoven Orchester Bonn under its new general music director Dirk Kaftan.

On 12 November, the concert will be accompanied by a talk about the political and social impact of music – a topic the U.N. messenger of peace Midori will have a lot to contribute to.

Jan Vogler in Zurich (November 2017)

Cellist Jan Vogler will be guest in Zurich in a couple of days – on 12 November he will play Dvořák’s cello concerto op. 104 together with Philharmonia Zurich and conducted by Fabio Luisi in the Zurich Opera house.

Enoch zu Guttenberg and Chorgemeinschaft Neubeuern – 50. Anniversary (November 2017)

On Saturday, 11 November 2017, conductor Enoch zu Guttenberg will celebrate an anniversary concert on the occasion of his 50-year-long collaboration with the Chorgemeinschaft Neubeuern and 20-year-long collaboration with the orchestra of KlangVerwaltung in the München Philharmonie.

Together they will perform Haydn’s “Creation”.

Kent Nagano at the Salzburg Festival 2018 (November 2017)

On 8 November it was officially annouced that Kent Nagano will return to the Salzburg Festival in July 2018 both in concert and opera performances.

With the Vienna Phliharmonic he will perform the new opera production of Hans Werner Henze’s The Bassarides, staged by Krzysztof Warlikowski. It will be the first time for Kent Nagano to conduct a piece by Henze at the Salzburg Festival. The premiere will be on 16 August. Further performances will take place on 19, 23 and 26 August.

The Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, whose Music Director Kent Nagano has been since 2006, is performing the opening concert of the Festival 2018 on 20 July as part of the opening series Ouverture Spirituelle – with Krzysztof Penderecki‘s St. Luke Passion. It will be the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal‘s debut at the Salzburg Festival.

 

Kent Nagano at the ECHO Klassik award 2017 (November 2017)

On 29 October conductor Kent Nagano has received the ECHO Klassik award 2017 as conductor of the year for his interpretation of Strauss’ Eine Alpensinfonie recorded with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra (FARO Classics, 2016).
During the award ceremony in the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Kent Nagano also conducted the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg, whose Chief Conductor he is.

Midori on a Duo Tour with Ieva Jokubaviciute (October 2017)

In beginning November, Midori will be again in Germany, Austria and Poland for duo concerts with Ieva Jokubaviciute. They will play works by Hindemith, Brahms, Schubert und Enescu in Wiesbaden, Egestorf, Vienna and Wroclaw.

Kent Nagano conducts Award Ceremony of ECHO Klassik in Elbphilharmonie (Oktober 2017)

On Sunday, 29 October Kent Nagano, General Music Director of the State Opera Hamburg and Chiefconductor of the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg will conduct the award ceremony of ECHO Klassik 2017, held in Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.

Kent Nagano will receive the award himself as “Conductor of the year” for the recording of Richard Strauss’ “Alpensinfonie” with Göteborgs Symfoniker (FARAO Classics).

 

Jan Vogler as Artist in Residence at the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (October 2017)

In season 2017/18 cellist Jan Vogler is Artist in Residence at the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. As such he will give the first concerts in the beginning of November. Together with violinist Mira Wang he will perform concerts in Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, among others with Harbison’s Double concerto for violin and violoncello.

Omer Meir Wellber conducts Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich (October 2017)

After his successful debut concert at Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, conductor Omer Meir Wellber has been invited again this season: On 28 and 29 October he will conduct concerts at Tonhalle Maag in Zürich, performing works by Haydn, Gubaidulina and Brahms.
