Midori in Spain for three concerts (April 2021)

Midori will be a guest of the Orquestra Simfònica Camera Musicae for three concerts. In Tarragona, Lleida and Barcelona, she will perform Brahms Violin Concerto in D major with the orchestra under Tomàs Grau. All three concerts will take place in front of an audience.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. last night, January 13, announced the five honorees to receive the 43rd Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime achievement in the arts. The 2020 Kennedy Center Honors, traditionally held in early December each year, have been postponed until May 2021 due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recipients to be honored at the 43rd annual national celebration are: Violinist Midori, choreographer and actress Debbie Allen, singer-songwriter and activist Joan Baez, country singer Garth Brooks and actor Dick Van Dyke.READ MORE

Midori and Festival Strings Lucerne release Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and Romances with Warner Classics (October 2020)

As one of the world’s preeminent soloists, the violinist Midori has been performing on premier stages around the globe for over 35 years. Warner Classics will release a recording of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and his two Romances for Violin and Orchestra by Midori and the Festival Strings Lucerne on October 16th to celebrate the composer’s 250th birthday in December 2020.READ MORE

Midori and Omer Meir Wellber in Palermo (September 2020)

On September 25, violinist Midori and Omer Meir Wellber will present a joint program of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D Major and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in two concerts at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, one at 5 p.m. and one at 9 p.m. (CET). The latter will be livestreamed on Teatro Massimo Web TV. With this concert, Midori begins her Artist in Residence at the Teatro Massimo. A matinée concert will follow on September 26th at 11 a.m. with chamber music works by Bach and Schnittke, together with musicians from the orchestra of the Teatro Massimo and music director Omer Meir Wellber himself at the piano.READ MORE

Midori honors Isaac Stern at Online Event “Live with Carnegie Hall” (July 2020)

Midori and many other artists are honoring Isaac Stern for his 100th birthday on July 21 with a live event as part of “Live with Carnegie Hall,” an online series featuring some of the world’s best artists, behind-the-scenes stories, excerpts from past performances, and live musical moments.

At “Live with Carnegie Hall: Isaac Stern Centenary”, Midori will be joined by Emanuel Ax, Yo-Yo Ma, and Pinchas Zukerman on July 21 at 8 p.m. (CEST) to perform live on the Carnegie Hall website on Facebook or YouTube.
