Israeli conductor Omer Meir Wellber was guest at BBC Radio 3 In Tune on 15 April on the occasion of this London Debut with the London Philhamonic Orchestra.
Wellber conducted the LPO on Friday, 17 April in the Royal Festival Hall with works by Debussy and Brahms. In addition to that Augustin Hadelich played Lalo’s “Symphony espagnole for Violin and Orchestra”.
Omer Meir Wellber will have his Gewandhaus Debut on 22, 23 and 24 April. On the program will be works by Dutilleux, Haydn und Schubert. Soloist will be Cellist Truls Mørk.
On short notice Omer Meir Wellber replaces David Zinman who had to cancel due to illness.
There will be a concert recording by German radio channel MDR with a delayed broadcast on 28 April at 8.05 pm on MDR Figaro.

Kent Nagano will be live on television in ZDF Morgenmagazin on 17 April from ca. 8.30 am.
The BBC interview with Kent Nagano, which was conducted in January 2015 on the occasion of his concert with BBC Symphony Orchestra, is now available for streaming on BBC Radio 3 Music Matters.
Kent Nagano talks about the influences of his musical education, about his associations with composers like Leonard Bernstein, Pierre Boulez and Olivier Messiaen and also about his views on New Music and its importance for the future of classical music in general.
Israeli conductor Omer Meir Wellber makes his London debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall on Friday 17 April 2015 at 7.30 pm with works by Debussy, Lalo and Brahms.
Wellber’s first collaboration with the LPO was in May 2014 when he conducted Tchaikovsky’s Eugen Onegin in Glyndebourne, after which the LPO invited him to conduct his London debut in April 2015.
For the 22nd time, established and young musicians will meet again in summer 2015 to rehearse and perform chamber music together in a variety of venues – the Baroque Moritzburg castle, the Transparent Factory of Volkswagen in Dresden as well as a hangar of the Elbe aircraft factory Dresden.
This year, artistic director and cellist Jan Vogler puts special emphasis on the issue of tolerance – not only in the light of the Dresden „Pegida“ demonstrations during the last months, but also of his call for defense of the humanist heritage from last autumn.
Matthias Pintscher, one of today’s most renowned composers, will be the 2015 composer-in-residence; three of his works – one of them a world premiere – will be performed during the festival. Furthermore, musicians such as violinists Henning Kraggerud and Mira Wang, violist Lawrence Power, cellist Johannes Moser, pianists Lise de la Salle and Francesco Piemontesi, or horn player Felix Klieser will follow the invitation to the Saxon idyll.
For the 10th time this year, 37 music students from around the world will form the Moritzburg Festival Orchestra to rehearse and perform orchestral works and chamber music – this year under the direction of Milan Turković. Among the festival opening concert, they will be present at the Young Euro Classic festival in the Berlin Konzerthaus on 17 August.
One musical focus of this year’s festival program (www.moritzburgfestival.de/english/index.html) will be on the groundbreaking impact Ludwig van Beethoven had on chamber music evolution in the 19th century. Beethoven was a great admirer of the ideals of the French Revolution, and by developing a new freedom in his music, he became a key pioneer of romanticism in Central Europe.

Together with Kent Nagano, the Audi Youth Choir Academy and the Munich Opera Horns, label Farao has published a new CD.For Kent Nagano supporting the young musical talents is a very personal affair of the heart. “The Audi Youth Choir Academy is an investition into the future”, Nagano states. “The young musicians have a wonderful passion for music, pretty voices and are willing to make music together earnestly and properly.”
As part of the first Vorsprung Festival, carried out in 2014 under Kent Nagano’s leadership, the concerts with the Audi Youth Choir Academy together with leading international orchestras took place.

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra under Manfred Honeck presents its new SACD: Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4. The recording will be published on 10 February 2015 by Reference Recordings in the version of 1878/80.
Manfred Honeck who has been Music Director in Pittsburgh since the 2008/2009 season writes about the recording: “For me, it was essential to adjust the Bruckner sound to match the character and nature of the ‘Romantic’ music, seeking a variety of colors ranging from the enormity of the sound blocks to also unbelievably soft and lyric playing.”

After more than 5 years, Kent Nagano is returning to London on 31 January 2015 to conduct the BBC Symphony Orchestra in Wolfgang Rihm’s “Tutuguri” – a work for large orchestra, percussionists, taped chorus and speaker. The performance at the Barbican in London is the UK premiere of Rihm’s “Poeme danse”. Kent Nagano has conducted this monumental piece before to great acclaim – at the rostrum of the BR Radio Symphony Orchestra Munich in 2012.

Midori is this year’s winner of the prestigious APAP Award of Merit for Achievement in Performing Arts, which is given each year by the Association of Performing Arts Presenters. The prize is awarded “to an individual whose genius, energy and excellence have defined or redefined an art form for today’s audiences”, and it includes composer Philip Glass, singer Jessye Norman, and the Kronos Quartet among its most recent recipients.
Midori received the prize on 12 January at the 58th Annual APAP Awards Ceremony in New York, as part of APAP NYC 2015, which gathers presenters from North America and more than 30 countries worldwide.
