On 28 August 2017 the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and their Music Director Manfred Honeck celebrated the start of this year’s Europe festival tour at the Rheingau Musik Festival in Wiesbaden.
Until 8 September they will further be guests at the Salzburg Festival, the BBC Proms in London, at Lucerne Festival etc.

On Saturday, 26 August 2017 David Philip Hefti will conduct the Academy of the Symphony Orchestra Biel Solothurn in two of his own works at the Swiss festival Les Jardins Musicaux in Cernier. The concert will be recorded by RTS Espace 2.

On Saturday, 2 September Kent Nagano will open the new season 2017/18 together with the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg – again with the Philharmonic Academy, this year in the Planetarium Hamburg.
On the program will be works by Telemann played by the Chamber Orchestra of the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg, and also pieces for solo piano by György Ligeti, Unsuk Chin, Pierre Boulez, Peter Ruzicka, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Luigi Nono.
Nick and Clemens Prokop will present a light performance in the Planetarium.

The Moritzburg Festival has welcomed approximately 6500 guests this summer. The festival celebrated its final concert previous Sunday, 20 August in the church of Moritzburg. It was the 25. festival edition.
Festival director Jan Vogler stated after: «The Moritzburg idea is alive and vital. It radiates with power into the music world.»
The festival next year will take place from 11 -26 August 2018.
Today, 18 August the new CD of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Manfred Honeck will be released on the label Reference Recordings. Shostakovich’s 5. Symphony as well as Barber’s Adagio can be heard on this.

On 19 and 20 August 90-years-old conductor Herbert Blomstedt will be guest at the Salzburg Festival together with the Vienna Philarmonic, performing Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7 as well as Strauss’ Metamorphosen.
The concert will be recorded. Austrian channel ORF/Ö1 will broadcast the concert on 27 August at 11:03. German channel BR Klassik will broadcast on 7 September at 18:05.
On the evening of 5 August 2017, David Philip Hefti’s song cycle for baritone and piano “E las culurs dals tuns” (on Romansh texts by Bibi Vaplan) will celebrate its world premiere at the Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzacker with Peter Schöne, baritone and Axel Bauni, piano.
Also in summer 2017 Music Director Kent Nagano and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal present the classical Montréal summer festival Virée Classique.
The festival will take place from 10 – 13 August in different concert venues in Montréal.
Kent Nagano will conduct the opening concert/performance with Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess”.

The Moritzburg Festival will celebrate its 25. anniversary. Under the artistic direction of cellist Jan Vogler, the festival has established itself as one of the world’s leading chamber music festivals.
The opening concert will take place on 5 August in the Gläserne Manufaktur of Volkswagen in Dresden.
