Herbert Blomstedt gives concerts with NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in Hamburg and Lübeck (January 2018)

90-year old conductor Herbert Blomstedt gives concerts with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in Hamburg and Lübeck. The concerts will take place in the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg (11 and 14 January) and in the Congresshall in Lübeck on 12 January.

On the programm will be Bruckner’s Symphony No 3 in d minor as well as Mozart’s Symphony No. 39 in E flat major (KV 543).

The concert on 11 January will mark the first anniversary of the Elbphilharmonie.

Midori in Munich, Stuttgart, Ansbach, Halle and London: Trio Tour with Jonathan Biss and Antoine Lederlin (January 2018)

In the second week of January, violinist Midori together with pianist Jonathan Biss and cellist Antoine Lederlin will be on a trio tour through Ansbach, Stuttgart, Munich, Halle and London.  They will play works by Beethoven, Schumann and Dvořák.

Midori in India with ICEP / Music Sharing (December 2017)

As every year in December, violinist and UN messanger of Peace Midori is currently travelling with Music Sharing’s International Coummunity Engagement Program (ICEP). This year she and the quartet consisting of herself and young musicians are visiting rural and otherwise underserved areas in India, followed by presentations in Japan in June 2018.

Omer Meir Wellber conducts Eugen Onegin at Semperoper Dresden (December 2017)

Conductor Omer Meir Wellber is currently guest at Semperoper Dresden for revival performances of Tchaikovsky’s Eugen Onegin. First revival performance will be on Tues, 19 December 2017. The production was premiered in June 2016, staged by Markus Bothe.

Meet Gregory Kunde at a CD signing at Deutsche Oper Berlin (December 2017)

The American tenor Gregory Kunde, who can currently be witnessed at Deutsche Oper Berlin in Giacomo Meyerbeer’s opera “Le prophète” as Jean van Leyden, will do a CD signing following the “Prophète” performance on Saturday, 16 December.

In autumn 2017, Universal Spain released his newest CD – Vinceró – with Gregory Kunde’s personal choice of tenor arias by Verdi, Puccini, Gounod, Meyerbeer etc.

Herbert Blomstedt conducts concerts in Dresden (December 2017)

Swedish conductor Herbert Blomstedt, who celebrated his 90. birthday in July 2017, will conduct two concerts with Staatskapelle Dresden on 15 and 16 December. The Conductor Laureate will perform Mozart’s piano concert in C major KV 503 as well as Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 KV 551 “Jupiter” with the orchestra. Pianist will be Martin Helmchen.

David Philip Hefti – German Premiere in Mainz (December 2017)

On 8 and 9 December, David Philip Hefti’s As dark as night – for contralto and orchestra, on a sonnet by Shakespeare will have its German premiere at the Staatsteater Mainz. Genegiève King will be singing, Hermann Bäumer conducts the Philharmonische Staatsorchester Mainz.
