Also, until Sunday, October 22, you can listen to the concert with Midori featuring Bernstein’s Serenade for Violin, Strings, Harp and Percussion with the WDR Symphony Orchestra conducted by Constantinos Carydis from the Cologne Philharmonic Hall here. The work by the U.S. composer has been with Midori for what feels like her entire life; at the age of 14, she played it under the Bernstein’s direction at her debut performance at Tanglewood. During this time, her string broke twice and Midori quickly exchanged her ¾-instrument for the concert master’s great violin and then for another one.
