ECHO Klassik 2014 award for cellist Jan Vogler (August 2014)
Jan Vogler will be awarded this year’s ECHO Klassik in the category “Instrumentalist of the year (cello)” for his recording of J.S. Bach’s six suites for cello solo. The Sony disc was published in March 2013, received great acclaim from both the press and the audience, and remained in the charts for an impressively long time.
The ECHO Klassik has been Germany’s major classical music award in 26 nominations since 1994. The award ceremony will be held on 26 October in Munich’s Gasteig, broadcast on public TV channel ZDF from 10pm CET.
Season 2014/15 sees Jan perform with the Cologne and Hamburg Radio Symphony Orchestras and the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, among others. He will also present chamber music programs with pianists Hélène Grimaud and Martin Stadtfeld.
His next Sony CD, “Concerti di Venezia”, will be published in November 2014. Together with the La Folia Barockorchester, he recorded early classical Venetian cello concerti. They will also present the program on a concert tour in November.
