Kent Nagano at the lit.COLOGNE (March 2022)

This coming Sunday, 20 March, Kent Nagano will present his book “10 lessons of my Life – Was wirklich zählt” (Berlin Verlag, 2021) at the lit.COLOGNE.
In conversation with Claudia Dichter, Nagano will discuss important events in his life that influenced him beyond his artistic path, including encounters with Leonard Bernstein and the pop musician Björk.

Kent Nagano (January 2022)

After a festive year 2021 in Kent Nagano’s life, with his 70th birthday and the publication of the 3 CD box set with works by Olivier Messiaen on the BR Klassik Label as well as his German book “10 Lessons of my Life – Was wirklich zählt” by Berlin Verlag, he will be in Hamburg and Paris in the coming weeks.

In Hamburg, in addition to symphony concerts with the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, he will conduct revivals of Wagner’s Lohengrin and Strauss’ Elektra at the Hamburg State Opera, and further performances of John Neumeier’s Beethoven Project II.

At Opera de Paris, he will lead the new production of Bernstein’s A Quiet Place, staged by Krzysztof Warlikowski in March 2022.

Kent Nagano conducts world premiere of Arvo Pärt (December 2021)

On 5 and 6 December, Kent Nagano will conduct works by Pärt, Stravinsky and Schumann at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. Arvo Pärt is one of the most important composers of our time. In the 4th Philharmonic Concert this weekend, two works by the 86-year-old Estonian artist will be on the program: In addition to “Fratres,” the Hamburg version of “Swansong” will be heard for the first time.

Kent Nagano with the Wagner Readings and Concerto Köln at the Kölner Philharmonie (November 2021)

On Thursday, 18 November 2021, Kent Nagano, together with the musicians of Concerto Köln and singers, will present Wagner’s Das Rheingold in concert at the Kölner Philharmonie. This concert was created as part of the scientific-artistic project Wagner Readings, which has been working on Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen in historically informed performance practice since fall 2017.

Kent Nagano with Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis at the Cologne Cathedral (October 2021)

On 29 October, Kent Nagano will conduct Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis at the Cologne Cathedral. The concert will take place as part of the Beethovenfest and will also present Stockhausen’s “Gesang der Jünglinge” together with the musicians of Concerto Köln, the Vokalensemble Kölner Dom and renowned soloists.

The concert can be seen live on ARTE and WDR.
