29 Aug – 2 Sept: Kent Nagano & the OSM present Virée Classique 2018 (August 2018)

The Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and its Music Director Kent Nagano present this year’s Virée Classique in Montréal from 29 August until 2 September.

The festival will offer concerts with soloists like violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaïa or pianists Paul Lewis and Alexei Volodi.

Kent Nagano – Interview on BBC Radio 3’s “Inside Music” on the occasion of Leonard Bernstein’s 100th Birthday (August 2018)

On 25 August 2018 – Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday – BBC Radio 3 will broadcast at 13.00 British time an interview with Kent Nagano in a special edition of “Inside Music”. Principal subject of the interview is Leonard Bernstein, but Kent Nagano also talks about other works, such as  J.S. Bachs Goldberg Variations or Vingt Regards sur l’Enfant-Jésus by Olivier Messiaen.

Kent Nagano conducts premiere of “The Bassarids” (August 2018)

On 16 August 2018 the new production of “The Bassarids” staged by Krzysztof Warlikowski will celebrate its premiere. Kent Nagano will stand at the rostrum of Vienna Philharmonics in the Felsenreitschule in Salzburg.

Further performances will take place on 19, 23 and 26 August.

Kent Nagano conducts opening ceremony of Salzburg Festival 2018 (July 2018)

On Friday, 27 July at 11.00 a.m. (CET) the official opening ceremony of this year’s Salzburg Festival will take place in the Felsenreitschule. On this occasion, Kent Nagano will conduct the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg with works by Richard Strauss, Gottfried von Einem and Leonard Bernstein.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on TV (ORF 2). Find more information on this here.

Kent Nagano and the OSM on tour in Kracow and at the Salzburg Festival (July 2018)

Kent Nagano and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal are currently in Europe and will give concerts in Kracow and at the Salzburg Festival, presenting Krzysztof Penderecki’s St. Luke Passion on the occasion of the composer’s 85. birthday anniversary.  The concert in Kracow is on 18 July.

The concert in Salzburg on 20 July will be the festival opening within the Ouverture spirituelle. The OSM will celebrate its festival debut with this concert.

Kent Nagano with Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Munich (July 2018)

On 5 and 6 July Kent Nagano will stand at the rostrum of Munich Herkulessaal to conduct the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. On the program will be Messiaen’s “Chronochromie”  and Bruckner’s Mess No. 2 in e minor.

Kent Nagano conducts Academy concerts in Hamburg in August (June 2018)

General Music Director of Hamburg Kent Nagano will conduct his first open air concert on the Town Hall square in Hamburg on 25 August. “This concert shall be a musical gift to the citizens of our city”, says Kent Nagano.

On the program will be works by Brahms, Bernstein and Rachmaninow. The entry is free.

On 26 and 27 August four Academy concerts will take place in the Town Hall of Hamburg, also under the baton of Kent Nagano .

Kent Nagano conducts Deutsches Symphonie Orchestra Berlin in Berlin & Munich (June 2018)

On 22, 23 and 24 June Kent Nagano will conduct the Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, whose Honorary Conductor he has been since 2006. On the program will be Mahler’s Symphony No. 2.

The concerts on 22 and 23 June will take place in the Philharmonie Berlin. On 24 June they will be guest in Philharmonie in Munich.
