On 3 and 4 February cellist Jan Vogler will play Bloch’s Schelomo with the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice in Venice. Omer Meir Wellber will stand on the rostrum of the orchestra.
Furthermore Schumann’s Symphony No. 4 will be performed.

On 21 October 2016 the new Schumann recording of Jan Vogler together with the Dresden Festival Orchestra will be released by Sony.
Offering lively interpretations on historical instruments, the Dresden Festival Orchestra has become the unmistakable voice of the Dresden Music Festival since its inception in 2012. After the extraordinary success of its Dresden concerts, SONY Classical releases the orchestra’s first CD featuring works by Robert Schumann. Under the baton of Ivor Bolton and with cellist Jan Vogler as soloist, the musicians set out in search of the original sound of Dresden’s Romantic period.

Cellist Jan Vogler and violinist Mira Wang will perform at MDR Musiksommer in Suhl and Freyburg on 27 and 28 August.
The MDR Symphony Orchestra conducted by Kristjan Järvi will play Tchaikovsky’s symphony No. 5.
Together with Jan Vogler and Mira Wang, Brahms’ concerto for violin, violoncello & Orchester a minor op. 102 will be performed.

Vom 5 May unti 5 Jun 2016 this year’s Dresdner Musikfestspiele took place under the artistic direction of Jan Vogler.
The cellist himself framed the festival by his performance at the opening concert on 6 May with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andris Nelsons and also by the final concert with the Festival Orchestra and conductor Ivor Bolton on 5 June. In Semperoper Dresden he played Schumann’s cello concerto.
The press says about the final concert:
Vogler, who has made a tremendous job as festival director focussed on expressivity and attack without any compromise. He stormed playfully up the burning hill: Jan, the Cello Husar – who would have thought? The rest is anticipation – again in 2017.” (Sächsische Zeitung, 6 June 2016)

On 5 May, this year’s Dresdner Musikfestspiele started in Saxony. “Time” is the festival motto in 2016.
As a kick-off Jan Vogler, Director of the festival, played together with the Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by Andris Nelsons on 6 May in the Frauenkirche in Dresden. Max Bruch’s “Kol Nidrei” for Cello and Orchestra was performed.

Jan Vogler will play the concert for violoncello No.1 g minor by Dmitri Kabalevsky.
