Herbert Blomstedt guest in Copenhagen (September 2017)

On 14 and 15 September, 90-years-old Herbert Blomstedt will be guest at the Danish National Symphony Orchestra in Copenhagen, conducting works by Mendelssohn: Hebrides Ouverture op. 26, as well as the Symphonies No. 4 a major op. 90 “Italian” and No. 3 a minor op. 56 “Scottish”.

Herbert Blomstedt at Salzburg Festival 2017 (August 2017)

On 19 and 20 August 90-years-old conductor Herbert Blomstedt will be guest at the Salzburg Festival together with the Vienna Philarmonic, performing Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7 as well as Strauss’ Metamorphosen.

The concert will be recorded. Austrian channel ORF/Ö1 will broadcast the concert on 27 August at 11:03. German channel BR Klassik will broadcast on 7 September at 18:05.

Herbert Blomstedt goes on “Dome” tour with Bamberg Symphony Orchestra (July 2017)

90 year-old Herbert Blomstedt will go on tour with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra from 19 – 22 July on the occasion of his anniversary year. On the program will be Bruckner’s Symphony No. 5 in the domes of Bamberg, Würzburg and Passau as well as in the Basilica of St. Florian in Austria.

CD box release | Herbert Blomstedt & Gewandhausorchester play Beethoven symphonies (June 2017)

On Friday, 30 June the label Accentus will release the CD-Box with all nine Beethoven symphonies recorded by Herbert Blomstedt and the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig.

The CD box will therefore be released only a few weeks before Herbert Blomstedt’s 90. birthday on 11 July 2017.

Herbert Blomstedt conducts NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra (June 2017)

Conductor Herbert BLomstedt, who will celebrate his 90. birthday in July 2017, will conduct the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in Hamburg on June 9 and June 11. On the program will be Bruckner’s symphony No. 5.

Herbert Blomstedt was Chief Conductor of the orchestra between 1996 and 1998.

The concert on June 9 will be broadcasted live on ARTE Concert at 8 p.m.

The concert on June 11 will be broadcasted live on NDR Kultur at 11 a.m.

On the occasion of Herbert Blomstedt’s 90. birthday in 2017 the label Accentus Music publishes all nine symphonies by Ludwig van Beethoven played by Gewandhausorchestra Leipzig and conducted by Herbert Blomstedt in a CD box plus selected symphonies on DVD.
