Omer Meir Wellber to be new Music Director at Volksoper Wien from September 2022 (December 2020)

As of the start of Lotte de Beer’s period as Director, Omer Meir Wellber is to be Music Director at Volksoper Wien from 1 September 2022. In addition to directing new productions and repertoire performances, for five seasons he will be chiefly responsible for the musical life of the Volksoper and for the development of the ensemble, the orchestra and the chorus. Omer Meir Wellber’s livestream concerts (November 2020)

Omer Meir Wellber will conduct livestream concerts with the orchestra of the Teatro Massimo Palermo on November 14 and 19.

The program on November 14 will include Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, Fauré’s Pelléas et Mélisande, suite op. 80 and Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 in B flat minor. The livestream concert on November 19 will feature Haydn’s Symphony No. 45 and Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 in D major.

Both concerts start at 7 pm and can be viewed on Teatro Massimo TV and YouTube.

Omer Meir Wellber conducts the premiere of “Die Zauberflöte” (October 2020)

Omer Meir Wellber will lead the premiere of the new production of “Die Zauberflöte” on November 1, 2020. This grand opera in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was newly staged by Josef E. Köpplinger.

Omer Meir Wellber back in Leipzig (October 2020)

Omer Meir Wellber returns to the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig with a special program. On October 25 and 26 he will present Eight Seasons together with the Sinfonietta Leipzig and the mandolinist Jacob Reuven. He will conduct the Seasons of Piazzolla and Vivaldi himself on the accordion and harpsichord. The same concert will also be presented on October 29 at the Semperoper Dresden.READ MORE

Midori and Omer Meir Wellber in Palermo (September 2020)

On September 25, violinist Midori and Omer Meir Wellber will present a joint program of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D Major and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in two concerts at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, one at 5 p.m. and one at 9 p.m. (CET). The latter will be livestreamed on Teatro Massimo Web TV. With this concert, Midori begins her Artist in Residence at the Teatro Massimo. A matinée concert will follow on September 26th at 11 a.m. with chamber music works by Bach and Schnittke, together with musicians from the orchestra of the Teatro Massimo and music director Omer Meir Wellber himself at the piano.READ MORE

Omer Meir Wellber with the MKO in Munich on Sunday (August 2020)

On Sunday, Omer Meir Wellber and the Munich Chamber Orchestra (MKO) will beginn their new concert season. In the Himmelfahrtskirche in Munich the concert will take place with a reduced audience and will be played two times. The Mandolinist Jacob Reuven will also be a guest at this concert and will play Vivaldi’s Concert for Mandolin. Together with him and the Sinfonietta Leipzig, Omer Meir Wellber will present a special program from Vivaldi and Piazzolla also at the harpsichord and accordion in October in Leipzig.

The concert is sold out, but it will be recorded by BR and broadcast on October 22. READ MORE
