A live recording of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Kent Nagano and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal was just released by Sony. The symphony was performed on 7, 9 and 10 September 2011 for the inaugural concerts of the orchestra’s new home, the Maison symphonique de Montréal.
The new hall was made possible with a public-private partnership of the government of Québec and SNC-Lavalin through its subsidiary Groupe immobilier Ovation. The hall’s acoustics bear the signature of Artec Consultants. Its architecture was entrusted to a consortium consisting of Diamond and Schmitt Architects Inc. and Ædifica Architects, under the direction of Jack Diamond.
