In the summer months, cellist Jan Vogler will perform at various festivals in Germany and abroad: Recitals at the Walled City Music Festival in Ireland and Northern Ireland will be followed by two concerts with the Prague Philharmonia at the Carinthian Summer in Austria. Late July sees him at three major German Festivals: the mdr Musiksommer in Saxony and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, where he will play the complete Bach solo suites, and at the Rheingau Musik Festival together with colleagues from the Moritzburg Festival. Please find the tour dates below.
For this year’s Moritzburg Festival (5-19 August), one year prior to its 20th anniversary, artistic director Jan Vogler was able to engage three composers-in-residence for the first time in the festival’s history: Sofia Gubaidulina, Olli Mustonen and Jörg Widmann. Apart from panel concerts, there will be chamber and orchestra concerts as well as public rehearsals.
Recently, Jan Vogler played a charity concert with Hélène Grimaud, for the Wolf Center New York. Furthermore, he presented Arthur Honegger’s cello concerto with Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, as well as in his debut with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and Manfred Honeck which was broadcast live on Deutschlandradio.
